Adventurer Jedidiah Duke to Tackle Historic Paddleboard Descent of the Colorado River

Pinedale, WY – Local adventurer Jedidiah Duke, known to friends and family as Jed, is preparing to take on the Colorado River in a world-record paddleboard descent that also integrates an off-road expedition. Set to launch on September 11th, 2024, the River-N-Road Trip will be a multi-faceted adventure combining physical challenge with reflection and purpose.

For Jed, this trip is more than just about setting a record. It’s about finishing the journey he started years ago when he completed the Green River descent but was forced to stop short of reaching the Colorado River’s delta. Now, with the support of a dedicated team, including Courtney Powers and veterans Jonathan Turner and Ethan Smith, the team will complete the journey.

“This trip is about completing something that’s been in the making for a long time,” said Jed. “The Green River has always represented a deeper connection for me—to adventure, to the outdoors, and to my home; with the Green converging into the Colorado, I really just wanted to ride rivers down the mountains all the way to the ocean. With the team we’ve assembled, I feel confident we’ll not only finish the journey but add a new layer of excitement and dynamic with the off-road component.”

Honoring 9/11: Living and Boldly Moving Forward

The significance of a September 11th departure resonates deeply with the team. The date is a reminder of the importance of living boldly, not taking life for granted, and moving forward with purpose.

“For me, 9/11 is about remembering the lives lost but also remembering to live,” said Turner. “Life is short, and you never know what tomorrow holds. That’s why I wake up each day with the mindset of embracing adventure, and this trip is part of that commitment.”

Turner joined the trip at the perfect time after plans for an off-road trailer company were put on hold. Now, he’s focused on making the most of the adventure, honing his photography skills, and spending time with his new puppy, Calliope Jane.

The Role of High Speed Holistix: Supporting Veterans and First Responders

While the River-N-Road Trip is centered around adventure, it also serves as a platform for Ethan Smith, founder of High Speed Holistix, to raise awareness for his non-profit organization. Smith aims to help veterans and first responders find balance through holistic practices and nature-based retreats. During the expedition, Smith will highlight his mission to offer free retreats to those who serve, using this journey as a way to inspire others to reconnect with nature.

“Our mission at High Speed Holistix is to show veterans and first responders that there’s a way forward—a healthier path through nature and purpose,” said Smith. “This trip offers a perfect stage to raise awareness for our cause and show how adventure can be part of the healing process.”

The Backbone of the Expedition: Courtney Powers

Courtney Powers plays a critical role in ensuring the team’s success. From managing logistics to making sure their off-road vehicle, Mary Lou, reaches camp in one piece, she brings humor, efficiency, and practical skills to the group. Powers is excited to spend the next several months surrounded by nature, discovering what truly makes her thrive.

“I’m here to help things run smoothly—whether that’s handing the right tool to the right person or making sure Mary Lou doesn’t fall apart,” said Powers. “But more than that, I’m excited to get out there, be in nature, and see what makes me come alive.”

Sponsorship Opportunities: Join a World-Record Adventure

The River-N-Road Trip team is actively seeking sponsors who want to be part of this historic adventure. With a world-record paddleboard attempt, off-road exploration, and widespread media coverage, sponsors will gain high visibility and exposure through multiple channels, including social media, blogs, and press features.

“This is an adventure that offers sponsors the chance to align with something bold and exciting,” said Turner. “We’re open to working with companies that share our spirit of adventure and want to get their brand in front of a global audience.”

Sponsors will benefit from:

  • Brand visibility on blog posts, social media platforms, and gear used throughout the journey.

  • Custom content tailored to highlight sponsor contributions, shared with thousands of adventure enthusiasts.

  • The opportunity to be part of a world-record attempt and share in the excitement of a one-of-a-kind expedition, allowing for months of product testing, feedback, and showcasing.
