Day 17 - Riding Rodeo Rapids

Another fine day on the water, and this one was straight out of a postcard. Clear skies, sunshine, and not a breath of wind—just the river rolling along, smooth and steady. We couldn’t have asked for better conditions. Ethan was feeling bold, so when we hit Rodeo Rapid, he decided to go for it, showing off some of those rodeo skills of his. He managed to surf that beast for a good 8 seconds before it finally bucked him off like an angry bull. The river doesn’t let you hang on for long, but it was a solid ride while it lasted.

The aftermath wasn’t too bad, either. We recovered all his gear—though not before learning a hard lesson about what actually qualifies as "waterproof." Some things passed the test, and others... well, let’s just say they didn’t make the cut. But no major losses, just some wet gear and a little extra wisdom. It’s all part of the game when you’re living life on the river.

All in all, it was one of those days where everything felt right. Perfect weather, a bit of excitement, and just enough chaos to keep things interesting. We'll be laughing about Ethan's 8-second riding rodeo rapids performance around the fire tonight.
