Day 3 - Rocks, Wind, and a Deflated Paddleboard

Day 3 started off easy—cool air, calm water, and a sense that things were finally going smoothly. That didn’t last long. We hit a stretch of low water, and suddenly, I was battling rocks, scraping bottom, and hopping off the board to drag it through a maze of boulders.

Ethan, however, stayed on shore, watching from a safe distance. Why? Because I forgot to air up one of the paddleboards. While I fought the rocks, Ethan had himself a nice little land-based break, probably laughing as I tried to muscle through on my own.

Once I finally cleared the rocks, I hit a stretch of flat water. Things started to feel manageable again—until the wind showed up. 20 mph gusts came out of nowhere, turning the paddleboard into a sail. It felt like I was paddling in place, fighting the wind with everything I had just to keep moving forward.

Ethan, of course, missed all of it. Lucky him. Tomorrow, both boards will be ready, and maybe he’ll get to share in the fun. Misery loves company, after all.
