Day 4: Rest, Reset, and Honchos

After three days on the water, Day 4 was all about taking a rest day and getting back into the groove. It’s amazing what a little downtime can do after battling rocks, wind, and a relentless river. Physically, we needed the break, and mentally, it was a chance to reset before diving back into it.

Having a support crew has been a game changer. While Ethan and I kicked back, the crew handled the behind-the-scenes work, making sure everything was in order for the next leg of the journey. It’s those small comforts that make all the difference—especially when you’re in it for the long haul.

With the extra time, we fired up the sewing machine and worked on cranking out more honchos. Stitching up these wool beasts is becoming a bit of a ritual, and there’s something satisfying about seeing them come together. They’ll keep us warm when the temperatures drop, and after these past few days on the water, we know we’ll need them.

Tomorrow, it’s back to the grind. The river’s waiting.
